Interests

We are a general adventure group participating in climbing, rappelling, rafting, canoeing, camping, caving, and visiting generally interesting local events.  We have attended the Renaissance Fair, Halloween events, and more.

This past July we celebrated our third birthday at a week long summer camp.  The past four years, the Blackhawk Area Council has sponsored a week long Venture Summer Camp at Canyon Camp, Stockton, Illinois which is one of the two Council camps.

Venture Summer Camp features a week of activities specifically tailored for Ventures including an overnight canoe trip on the Mississippi River, a combination climbing/rappelling trip at the Mississippi Palisades State Park, and Caving at the Maquoketa Caves in Iowa. 

During the week we get to use the other facilities such as rifle and shot gun, black power rifles, and archery.  The week concludes with a Venture Feast including a deep fried turkey with all the fixings made right in our camp site. 

Because we attend camp the week of June 1st to July 1st.

However, 2006 is probably the last year for the program. Next year we are attending a camp in Missouri south of St. Louis which offers more activities including water skiing, power boat tubing, horseback riding and more.

This year, we attended a two-day whitewater rafting trip on the Gauley River in West Virginia.  A copy of the video taken of the trip is available upon request.
