Venture Crew 159 is a “Safe Haven” for all youth.

Venture Crew 159 was first chartered on July 2, 2002 and has been re-charted every year since achieving “Quality Unit” status each year.  Our Charter runs from April 1st through March 31st.  Venture Crew 159 is fully “youth run”.  The program of events is determined, planned, and executed by the members of the Crew.  The Adult leaders function as “advisors” to help the membership fulfill their “dream program”.  No activity is too “wild” not to be considered by the members.  “If you an conceive it and plan it, the Crew is up for it.”

Interests are wide and varied including; camping, crafts, sports, canoeing, kayaking, white water rafting, horse back riding, shooting sports, SCUBA diving, rappelling, climbing, bicycling, caving, and much more.

The Crew operates on a set of “By-Laws” composed entirely by the Crew membership.  The Crew Leadership (youth) conducts periodic training for new members and elects new officers each winter..

Fund raisers are conducted periodically by the Crew membership as needed to help fund activities.  The Crew renews their Charter with the Church and Council every March which runs from April 1 - March 31.  There are no “Dues” but $20.00 is due by each member on February 1st for the purpose of re-chartering.

The Crew has planned and conducted many activities including horseback riding and white water rafting on the New River in West Virginia.The Crew has purchased their own tents and camping equipment but shares canoes and other equipment with their “brother troop” Boy Scout Troop 159. The Crew has attended the Canyon Camp Venture Week Program and every U.S. Grant Pilgrimage every year since 2003.

The Uniforms - The membership periodically selects their “Class A” uniforms (currently a blue polo shirt).  The classic “Green Shirt” is the Crew’s “Dress Uniform” used for parades and formal occasions.  Also available are a variety of special tee shirts including the popular;
